Fargo Man Enters Alford Plea in Downtown Shooting
Cass County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A Fargo man has entered an Alford plea to attempted murder in connection with a downtown shooting that occurred in late 2024.
According to Fargo Police and court records, Gregory LaCroix initially pleaded not guilty to charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault on December 30, 2024.
The charges stem from an incident on October 17, 2024, when police were called to a shooting near 3rd Avenue North and Broadway North around 2:30 a.m. Officers located LaCroix’s vehicle nearly three hours later with help from witness descriptions. The victim survived the shooting.
On October 13, 2025, LaCroix entered an Alford plea in Cass County District Court. An Alford plea means the defendant maintains innocence but acknowledges that prosecutors likely have enough evidence to obtain a conviction.
As part of the plea agreement, a felony aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon charge was dismissed. LaCroix now awaits sentencing, scheduled for December 22, 2025, at 10:30 a.m.
The Fargo Police Department and Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office handled the investigation and prosecution of the case.
