Fargo Man Charged with Felony Forgery After Cashing Fraudulent Check in Detroit Lakes

Becker County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Adrian Jay Hawkman, 40, of Fargo, is facing felony check forgery charges in Becker County District Court. The charges stem from an incident on May 2nd when Hawkman allegedly cashed a forged check for $3,868.41 at the American National Bank in Detroit Lakes.

According to court records, bank staff grew suspicious when Hawkman, who had his hood up and appeared to be concealing his face, presented a North Dakota ID while cashing the check. The bank’s deposit operation team later confirmed that the check was fraudulent, as the check numbers had never been issued. The business owners listed on the check also confirmed they had not written it.

The police, using the ID provided, identified Hawkman and matched his photo to the individual who cashed the check. Despite this, Hawkman failed to appear for his first court date on July 18th, leading to an arrest warrant being issued.
