Fargo Man Charged in Connection to Fatal Fentanyl Overdose

FARGO, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me— A Fargo man is facing serious criminal charges after a woman was found dead from a suspected fentanyl overdose earlier this month.

According to court documents, James Earl Beal of Fargo has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance (fentanyl) and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor refusal to halt.

Police were dispatched around 6:49 a.m. on October 10 to a home at 4719 47th Avenue South for a report of a woman who was unresponsive and not breathing. When officers arrived, they found the woman deceased in a basement bedroom. She was sitting against the wall and appeared to have been dead for several hours.

Authorities located hypodermic needles, suspected fentanyl powder, and other drug paraphernalia near her body. Investigators seized several items, including the victim’s cell phone, which was later forensically examined. Messages on the phone allegedly connected Beal to the supply of drugs that led to the fatal overdose.

On October 23, officers conducting surveillance located Beal. He attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody.

Beal remains charged in Cass County District Court. The case continues to be investigated by the Fargo Police Department.
