Fargo Man Charged After Threats to Shoot Family and Hospital Staff
FARGO, ND ( trfnews.i234.me ) — A Fargo man is facing felony terrorizing charges after allegedly making violent threats toward family members and hospital staff.
According to Cass County court documents, Stephan C. Colbert of Fargo has been charged with two felony counts of terrorizing. The incident began on October 15th when police were called to a Fargo residence following reports that Colbert had threatened to kill extended family members and was experiencing mental health issues.
Officers transported Colbert to Sanford Hospital for evaluation. While there, authorities say he allegedly threatened to shoot a hospital security guard and “shoot up the building.” Hospital staff notified police, and Colbert was later taken into custody.
Following the incident, Colbert was booked into the Cass County Jail. He now faces two felony charges related to terrorizing and making violent threats. No injuries were reported, and law enforcement officials confirmed that no weapons were found at the scene.
The case highlights the growing challenges law enforcement faces when responding to incidents that involve both potential violence and mental health crises. Officials emphasize the importance of seeking help before threats or outbursts escalate.
