Cass County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Fargo man is facing multiple charges after a knife incident in downtown Fargo on August 17.

According to the police report, officers were dispatched at 5:23 p.m. to 2nd Avenue North and Broadway North after receiving reports of a disturbance involving several people and a knife. Initial reports suggested that a woman may have been stabbed, but police later confirmed she was not injured.

Video surveillance from the scene shows the female victim approaching Billy Dean Hash while he was sitting on a bench. The two got into a physical fight, which escalated when Hash reached into his pocket and pulled out a knife.

Police say Hash then swung the knife back and forth at both the woman and another man who was involved. Officers arrived as the confrontation was ongoing and arrested Hash at the scene.

He now faces charges of attempted aggravated assault, possession of methamphetamine, and simple assault.

Cass County prosecutors are moving forward with the case. Attempted aggravated assault is a serious felony that carries the possibility of prison time if convicted.

The incident is part of a growing concern over violent confrontations in Fargo’s downtown area. Law enforcement continues to stress the importance of reporting suspicious behavior and avoiding confrontations when possible.

Residents can learn more about North Dakota assault laws and community safety efforts through state and local resources.

Hash remains in custody as court proceedings continue. Updates on bond and trial dates are expected in the coming weeks.
