Fargo Man Charged After Blocking Train and Spitting on Officers

FARGO, ND ( trfnews.i234.me— A Fargo man is facing several serious charges after police say he stood in the middle of train tracks, forcing a train to stop, and later spat on officers during his arrest.

According to court documents, the incident happened on October 14th along North Broadway in Fargo. Officers were called after reports that a man was standing in the center of the railroad tracks, preventing a train from continuing its route. When officers arrived, they identified the suspect as Emmanuel Sloan.

Authorities say Sloan ignored commands and began walking away. When officers attempted to take him into custody, a struggle followed. During the arrest, Sloan allegedly spat in one officer’s face and tried to spit on another. Officers eventually restrained him without further injury.

Sloan is now facing a list of charges, including three felonies: preventing arrest, contact by bodily fluids, and attempted contact by bodily fluids. He is also charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief for stopping the train and disrupting rail operations.

No officers were reported injured during the altercation. The case is being handled in Cass County District Court, and Sloan remains in custody pending further hearings.

Blocking train tracks is both dangerous and illegal. For more information on railroad safety, visit Operation Lifesaver, a national rail safety education organization.
