Fargo Man Arrested After Bat Threat Standoff

Fargo (trfnews.i234.me) — A 59-year-old Fargo man was arrested Tuesday after police responded to a disturbance on Roberts Street North.

Authorities said the call came in at about 2:49 p.m. on March 17. Officers were sent to the 100 block of Roberts Street North.

According to police, the man was upset and armed with a baseball bat. He was also accused of making threats during the incident.

Disturbance Leads to SWAT Response

Police identified the suspect as Dennis Christensen, 59, of Fargo.

Investigators said Christensen was striking walls with the bat inside the residence. Police said he then refused to come outside.

Because he would not exit, the Red River Valley SWAT Team was called to the scene.

Officers later breached the door and gave commands inside the home. Christensen was then taken into custody.

Police said the arrest happened without further incident. No injuries were reported in the release.

Charges and Jail Booking

Christensen was arrested on a terrorizing charge. Police also said he was taken in on an unrelated warrant.

After the arrest, he was transported to the Cass County Jail.

The incident began with a response from the Fargo Police Department.

Police have not released more details about what led to the disturbance.

The case remains a reminder of how quickly a local call can grow into a major police response. In this case, officers said the situation ended safely after the suspect refused to leave the home.

Christensen now faces the listed charge as the case moves through the court process.
