Fargo Man Arrested After Accidental Apartment Shooting

FARGO, N.D. ( trfnews.i234.me— A Fargo man has been arrested following an accidental shooting at an apartment complex that sent a bullet through the floor and into a neighboring unit below. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

According to court records, police responded around 3:45 p.m. after a resident reported a gunshot that penetrated his ceiling and struck his window. The man told officers he also heard loud stomping coming from the unit above immediately after the shot.

Responding officers attempted to contact the three occupants of Unit #302, where the gunfire originated. After five minutes of unsuccessful verbal commands, police used a battering ram to force entry into the apartment.

Once inside, officers encountered Jeremiah Williams at the door. During questioning, Williams told police that the firearm belonged to his roommate and that it discharged accidentally as he was attempting to remove the clip. He claimed he was unaware the bullet had traveled through the floor into the apartment below.

Police confirmed the firearm did belong to Williams’ roommate. Following the execution of a search warrant, two handguns were seized as evidence from the residence.

Williams was arrested and booked into the Cass County Jail on a charge of felony reckless endangerment. Authorities say no one else in the building was hurt, and the investigation is ongoing.

Law enforcement officials remind residents that all firearms should be treated as loaded and handled with caution. Always unload and clear the weapon before cleaning or maintenance, and store firearms safely away from others.
