Fargo Man and Graceville Woman Arrested After Chaotic Traffic Stop in West Fargo

WEST FARGO, ND (trfnews.i234.me)—A traffic stop on Cheyenne Street in West Fargo escalated into a chaotic arrest Thursday night when a passenger attempted to flee in the vehicle, according to West Fargo Police.

The incident occurred at 10:34 p.m. on February 1, when officers pulled over a vehicle in the 2600 block of Cheyenne Street for a traffic violation.

While conducting an investigation, officers placed the driver, Michael S. Carpenter, 47, of Fargo, into the back of a squad car. Meanwhile, his passenger, Sophia Rose Skoog, 20, of Graceville, Minnesota, moved into the driver’s seat and attempted to flee.

However, officers quickly pinned the vehicle against a snowbank, preventing an escape.

Despite this, Carpenter remained uncooperative, attempted to flee on foot, and was apprehended after a short pursuit.

Both suspects were taken into custody and are now facing serious charges:

  • Michael S. Carpenter (47, Fargo)Felony possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Sophia Rose Skoog (20, Graceville, MN)Fleeing in a motor vehicle, preventing arrest, and an outstanding warrant

No injuries were reported to officers, bystanders, or suspects during the incident.
