Cass County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – A Fargo man has been arrested after police say he attempted to steal a patrol car during a disturbance call in downtown Fargo.

According to court records, 35-year-old Sean Ferguson faces charges of attempted theft, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The incident occurred on August 25 when Fargo Police responded to a disturbance at 304 Roberts Street.

Officers say Ferguson appeared to be experiencing a mental health crisis. Despite being offered resources, police say he refused help and continued acting erratically. During the encounter, authorities allege Ferguson attempted to steal a marked police vehicle valued at approximately $12,000.

Court filings say officers quickly removed Ferguson from the vehicle and placed him in handcuffs. A search reportedly uncovered suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Police say Ferguson was evaluated by a doctor and later cleared for jail. He was booked into the Cass County Jail. Ferguson’s first court appearance was scheduled for August 27.

The case remains under review by the Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office. Learn more about North Dakota criminal court cases here.
