FARGO, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) – A warrant was issued for the arrest of 21-year-old Wyatt Borden on October 30. He is charged with three counts of gross sexual imposition and one count of contributing to the deprivation or delinquency of a minor.
According to court documents, the 12-year-old girl was reported missing in May 2023 and returned to Discovery Middle School the next day. The girl’s mother regularly reported her as missing due to habitual running away from home.
A school resource officer attempted to talk with the girl but she refused to provide information. Surveillance video from the middle school shows the girl being picked up and dropped off in Lyft rideshare vehicles, which investigators discovered were paid for by Wyatt Borden.
Detectives gained access to Snapchat data confirming a sexual relationship between Borden and the 12-year-old girl. Court records state that conversations included them expressing their love for each other, regularly missing each other, and detailing how they had sex.
Messages also explained in detail how the girl would sneak out of her house and Borden would agree to send her Lyft rides to his residence in Fargo. A search warrant on Lyft confirmed Borden’s account paid for at least 20 rides for the girl, totaling about $240 for the services.
The girl eventually told investigators that she met Borden on Snapchat in 2022. She stated that she took Lyft rides to Borden’s apartment at least 10-11 times and each time had unprotected sex with him approximately 2-3 times.
NDSU Police confirmed that Wyatt Borden was the janitorial custodian at the Aldevron Tower on the NDSU Campus from August 2020 until November 2022 when he was fired due to ongoing thefts he was connected to.
Borden made his initial court appearance in Cass County Court on November 5, 2024.
