FARGO, ND (trfnews.i234.me) — The Environmental Health Division at Fargo Cass Public Health is investigating a local hotel after guests recorded sheets being soaked in a hot tub.

The incident occurred at Expressway Suites, 4303 17th Ave. S., according to the guests. They say they saw an employee place bed sheets in the tub and agitate them with a broom. The family recorded the scene and posted the video to social media.

Guest Alex Kenmille said she first thought the hot tub was broken. Then more sheets went in. “I was like, what is going on?” she said. “That’s disgusting. Are we sleeping on those sheets?”

With cleanliness concerns, the family contacted hotel management for an explanation. In a recorded phone call, a staff member said the sheets were already washed and were put in the hot tub to help remove stains. The employee said the tub is then drained and “heavily cleaned” with a deep cleaner.

Hotel managers declined an on-camera interview but told the family the practice is a last resort for stained linens that are likely headed for disposal. They said it is normally done after pool hours. They also said the worker seen in the video was counseled about doing this in view of guests. Management said they were contacting the health department about whether the practice is acceptable.

Fargo Cass Public Health confirmed its Environmental Health Division is looking into the matter. The agency did not provide further details about the review. Hot tubs are chlorinated, but public health experts warn that warm water and heavy use can increase sanitation risks. Guest Amy Vandal said the scene raised hygiene concerns. “Just sitting in a hot tub, with the heat, your skin will shed,” she said.

The guests said they have contacted city health officials and are considering reaching out to the state health department. This is a developing story. We will update as officials release findings.
