Fargo Fugitive Sentenced to 13 Years in Prison for High-Speed Chase and Assault on Federal Agents

FARGO (trfnews.i234.me) – Michael Allen Otto was sentenced to 13 years in federal prison for his involvement in a high-speed chase and assault on federal agents.

The incident occurred on September 15, 2023. A routine traffic stop led to law enforcement pursuing Otto’s vehicle at high speeds. Two stolen firearms were found inside the vehicle during the pursuit.

A warrant was issued against Otto in July 2024 for violating the terms of his pretrial release. When officers and FBI agents attempted to apprehend him, he intentionally rammed his vehicle into a Grand Forks Police Department vehicle and an FBI vehicle occupied by two agents.

U.S. Attorney Mac Schneider stated that the defendant’s actions endangered law enforcement personnel while disregarding court-imposed conditions for his pretrial release. The sentence was deemed fair due to these circumstances.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Grand Forks Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Richard Lee handling prosecution.
