An officer responded to Sanford Health in Fargo at about 7 p.m. on January 26. Police say the woman reported a domestic assault.
The incident report says the woman told police the assault happened earlier that morning. She said it happened at Dancy’s residence in Fargo.
Police say Dancy punched her in the face. Police also say he punched her in the stomach. The report says the woman had visible injuries.
The report says Dancy strangled the woman for about 20 seconds. Police say the woman feared for her safety.
Police say Dancy displayed a handgun during the fight. The report says he threatened to kill her.
Police also say Dancy took the woman’s phone. They say he did that to stop her from getting help.

Police say Dancy was arrested later. He is now charged with felony domestic violence.
