ST. MICHAEL, N.D. (trfnews.i234.me) – The family of 46-year-old William “Billy” Foote is making an emotional appeal for justice following his tragic death. Foote’s body was discovered on May 29, concealed in brush near the Spirit Lake Reservation, an apparent victim of a hit-and-run crash. His last known location was St. Michael Catholic Church, where he had attended a prayer service before walking away for some solitude.

Colleen Anderson, Foote’s sister, expressed the profound pain and confusion felt by the family. Describing her brother as a devoted father and uncle, Anderson highlighted his unwavering support and love for his family. “He was always there for you, no question,” she said.

Foote had been at the church on May 27 for a service in memory of his late aunt and cousin. After the service, he went for a walk and did not return for the following day’s funeral, sparking concern among his family. His body was found two days later, about a mile from the church, covered in brush.

Authorities believe Foote was struck by a vehicle, but details remain scarce. The FBI, which handles crimes on reservations, has yet to comment on the case. The family has shared images of an impounded vehicle with a damaged windshield, reportedly seized as part of the investigation.

Anderson voiced her frustration, hoping that those responsible for the accident feel the weight of their actions. “I hope they see him every day and feel the pain,” she said.

The Foote family is calling on the public to come forward with any information that might aid the investigation, hoping that answers will bring them some semblance of peace and justice. “It’s our everyday lives that we have to wonder who and why,” Anderson lamented. “Those questions being answered could put our family at a little bit of ease.”

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run is urged to contact local authorities.
