Extra Patrols on Minnesota Lakes Over the 4th for Boaters Drinking and Driving

ST. PAUL, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – If you’re planning to hit the water this long holiday weekend, make sure to plan ahead for a sober boat operator. From July 4th through the 6th, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) will be increasing law enforcement presence on lakes as part of Operation Dry Water. DNR Lieutenant Eric Sullivan emphasizes that there will be zero tolerance for boating under the influence, stating, “Drunk boating is drunk driving.”

In addition to avoiding alcohol and drugs while on the water, the DNR urges everyone on a boat to wear a life jacket. Operation Dry Water aims to educate boaters on safe practices and ensure that everyone enjoys a safe and sober Fourth of July weekend.
