Ethel, who raised their 11 children after her husband’s assassination in 1968, was a powerful force within the Kennedy family, maintaining a deep commitment to social causes throughout her life. Her grandson, Joe Kennedy III, confirmed her passing, sharing that “our hearts are full of love as we remember our amazing grandmother.”

Born Ethel Skakel, she was married to Robert F. Kennedy for 18 years and stood by his side through immense personal and public tragedy.
