Emergency Spillway at Nelson County Dam Activated Due to Rising Flood Waters

WHITMAN, ND (trfnews.i234.me) High water on the Forest River is now running into the emergency spillway on the Whitman Dam in Nelson County, North Dakota.
we have water flowing over the emergency spillway of a dam uh at whitman north dakota this is about 48 miles northwest of grand forks or nine miles north of michigan north dakota we’ll take you down to the scene here uh dan reba shot some video out here and kind of explains what’s uh happening judging by a marker on the other boundary that it went up close to a foot overnight is what i would guess about what i’m looking at but she’s flowing so we not only got this going to matacek that’s all she can flow she’s open 100 we are naturally flowing the first time that this emergency spillway has ever run since 1963 or four when it was constructed dan says it doesn’t appear there’s any danger to anything the emergency spillway keeps the water from washing out the dam just means more water in flooded fields as all of this makes its way uh east toward the red river i’m Neil Berg reporting for trfnews.i234.me
