Michael Norell was an actor and screenwriter who starred as Captain Henry “Hank” Stanley on the TV drama “Emergency!”
Michael Norell’s legacy
Norell began acting after serving for five years in the U.S. Army. After appearing on an episode of “Police Story,” he was cast in a starring role on “Emergency!” The 1970s drama followed paramedics and firefighters working in the Los Angeles area; Norell’s character was a fire captain.
While appearing on the show, Norell wrote several episodes of “Emergency!” He was inspired to turn his Hollywood career toward screenwriting. He wrote 12 episodes of “The Love Boat” and six episodes of “Nash Bridges,” as well as a number of TV movies.
