ST. PAUL, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – State Senator Nicole Mitchell of Woodbury has announced she will not resign despite mounting pressure from DFL leaders following her burglary charges in Detroit Lakes. Mitchell’s lawyer issued a statement on Thursday affirming her commitment to continue serving in the state senate while her criminal case proceeds. Last month, Mitchell was arrested for allegedly breaking into her stepmother’s home. Both Governor Tim Walz and DFL Party Chair Ken Martin have called for her resignation.

  1. While I’m sympathetic to what Senator Mitchell has been through, I feel resigning is the right thing to do for herself and for the DFL. This event will continue to dog her, and she needs to look at what’s best for everyone.
