Elizabeth “Betty” Georgeson – Obituary

August 31, 1949 – February 2, 2025

Elizabeth “Betty” Georgeson, age 75 of Mapleton, ND formerly of Niagara, ND passed away on February 2nd at Edgewood Memory Care in Grand Forks, ND.

Betty was the first of 5 children born to Frank and Rose (Dvorak) Beneda. Betty married James Georgeson on June 28th. 1966. James and Betty lived on the family farm where they raised their four children.

Faith, Family, Friends and the Farm were all very important to Betty. Faith was especially important as she hardly missed Sunday in church and was an active member of the St. Stephen’s Altar Society. She always had time for a cup of coffee for anyone that stopped by and will be remembered for her smile and laugh. She enjoyed her garden and kept her canning cupboard full and her flower garden beautiful. She helped keep the farm running smoothly, running errands at top speed and we mean top speed and everyone’s bellies full delivering many meals to the fields. She was also a member of the quilters “Whip Stitchers.”

After James passed away Betty married Jon Heyerman and moved to Casselton. Jon and Betty enjoyed traveling to many places including a trip to Europe and a few to Alaska. They both enjoyed dancing and far too many garage sales until dementia forced her into memory care.

Betty is survived by her husband Jon Heyerman, children: Joyce (Shayne) Bratlie, Clint (Aparna) Georgeson, Donna (Troy Lillehaugen) Georgeson, Siblings; Marcy (Arden) Bell, Marie (Warren) Hurst, David (Jodi) Beneda, Grandchildren; Cody (Jenna) Bratlie, Justin Bratlie, Ryan (Sam) Bratlie, Matthew (Dakota) Bratlie, James Georgeson, Navya Georgeson, Ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband James Georgeson, her parents Frank and Rose Beneda, son Michael Georgeson and brother Ed Beneda.
