Elderly Driver Injured in Cass County Collision with Truck – trfnews.i234.me

PIKE BAY TOWNSHIP, MN (trfnews.i234.me)On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at approximately 2:48 p.m., a serious two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of US Highway 2 and 65th Avenue NW in Pike Bay Township, Cass County. A 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by 72-year-old Marie Francis Lancto of Cass Lake, pulled out in front of an eastbound 1995 Aero tractor truck operated by 39-year-old Jerrel Dale Spence, also of Cass Lake. The Jeep was struck by the Aero truck on US Highway 2.

Lancto sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Bemidji Hospital for treatment. Spence was uninjured in the incident. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and alcohol involvement is unknown at this time. Road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.

Emergency response teams from Bemidji Ambulance, Leech Lake Police Department, and the Cass County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
