Edna Mae Keller, 95, of East Grand Forks, MN passed away on Thursday, May 9 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend to many.
Edna Mae was born January 27th, 1929 in Grand Forks to Theodore and Stella (Jordahl) Helgeson. She graduated from Central High School in 1946 and from Aaker’s Business College in 1947. She worked at Implement Dealers Insurance in Grand Forks, the Auto Inspection Bureau in Long Beach, CA and finally as a librarian for the Garden Grove School District from 1974 until her retirement in 1986. She so enjoyed working with the children at the school. She received an Honorary Service Award from the PTA in1974 after 15 years of active membership.
She was also proud to have worked on many community activities, such as: Parade floats for the Rose Parade and Anaheim Halloween Parade. She was an assistant Cub Scout Leader and was active in the Loara Band Boosters for 7 years in Anaheim, CA. She was a Pink Lady at the Grass Valley Hospital for 13 years. Locally she was a Sons of Norway member.
She married Richard L. Keller on June 25, 1950. They moved to California in 1954, moved to Anaheim in 1961, built a home in Grass Valley, CA in 1986, and moved to both Sunland Village in Mesa, AZ and a home in East Grand Forks, MN in 2000. Richard passed away on January 17, 2002. She continued to maintain the two homes in AZ and MN. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marlene (Robert) Kuntz, her brother Herb (Diane) Helgeson, and nephews Timothy Burris and Paul (Heather) Helgeson.
She is survived by her children; daughter Gail (Kirke) Warren, Twin Falls, ID, son Steven (Kim) Keller, East Grand Forks, MN, four grandchildren; Kelsie Warren, Wayne (Amber) Warren, R’dona (Wes) McLain and Nicholas (Chelsey) Keller.Two step-grandchildren; Joe (Angela) Bolonchuk and Mike Bolonchuk, great grandchildren; Colby, Audrey, Brantley, Paisley, Wyatt, Ty, Colton, Janessa, Hayden, Kaleb, Lauren and Sierra, her sisters Donna (Pat) Burris, Grand Forks and Shirley Billberg, Spokane, WA and several nieces and nephews.
Edna Mae was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A Memorial Service to honor and remember Edna Mae will take place at United Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND, at 2:00pm on Thursday, May 16, 2024. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church.
