Dwilton George Langaas, 89, of Guthrie, MN, formerly of Forest River, ND, passed away April 28, 2024, at Valley Senior Living under the care of Red River Valley Hospice. Dwilton was born March 22, 1935, in Grand Forks, ND, to Clarence ‘Tony’ Langaas and Alice (Willson) Langaas. Dwilton graduated from Forest River High School. After graduation, he became a proud member of the US Navy from 1955 to 1959. He worked as an electrician on the USS Perkins Navy destroyer as part of the Pacific fleet. He married Linda Sheridan on November 15, 1959. They were married 26 years until her passing. Dwilton and Linda were the parents of one son, Kenneth Langaas. Dwilton lived and farmed in the Forest River area until his retirement. He married Janice Gladen of Guthrie, MN, on September 5, 1986. During his retirement he grew and sold Christmas trees. He also enjoyed feeding the deer, fishing, and tinkering with all things John Deere. He was a long-time member of the American Legion and VFW and was proud to have served his country.
Dwilton is survived by his wife Janice Langaas of Guthrie, MN; son, Kenn (JoLynn) Langaas of Laporte, MN; stepdaughter, Jeanene Carroll of Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren, Biancha (Jake)Taylor, Allison (Justin) Christianson, Jana (Shannon)Ekren, Janelle Carroll, Jacob Carroll and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda Langaas; grandson, Sam Langaas; and one sister, Virginia (Ray) Guderjohn.
The family would like to express thanks to the staff of Valley Senior Living, Red River Valley Hospice and Sanford Home Health and Hospice of Bemidji.
At Dwilton’s request, there will be no formal service. He will be missed and always hold a place in our hearts. We invite you to hold his memory in your heart as we do and honor him in your own way. Interment will be in the Guthrie Cemetery.
