PENNINGTON COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) — A St. Hilaire woman has been charged after a traffic stop at the Highway 32 roundabout in Pennington County led to a DWI arrest.
According to court records, Tanya Marie Klipping, 46, of St. Hilaire, has been charged with third-degree driving while intoxicated. The incident occurred on the evening of October 31, when deputies conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Highway 32 and 150th Street Northeast.
Authorities say the vehicle was pulled over in the roundabout and later moved to allow traffic to continue safely. During the stop, Klipping allegedly showed signs of impairment. A preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.159, nearly twice Minnesota’s legal limit of 0.08.
After being transported to the Law Enforcement Center, Klipping was informed of state testing laws. According to the complaint, she admitted guilt before taking an official breath test, which registered a 0.17 BAC.
Klipping was then arrested and booked into the Pennington County Jail. No injuries or property damage were reported. Her case will be heard in Pennington County District Court.
Under Minnesota law, a third-degree DWI typically applies when a driver’s blood alcohol level exceeds 0.16 or when prior DWI offenses exist within ten years.
