Duluth, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Duluth man is facing serious felony charges after allegedly launching fireworks at his neighbor’s home during a late-night confrontation in St. Louis County.
According to court documents, Phillip Everett Bacon, 48, became upset late on July 15, 2024, after two friends of a neighbor parked in a shared alley on South 60th Avenue West. Witnesses told police Bacon began shouting at them before escalating to threats that he would kill them and burn down the home.
The group — one resident and two guests — locked themselves inside the house and called 911. When officers arrived, they discovered mortar-style firework debris, burn marks on the siding, and damage near the gas meter. Residents reported the explosions were strong enough to shake the house.
Police found Bacon hiding in his garage and arrested him at the scene. Firework packaging consistent with the debris outside was also recovered.
Bacon has been charged with first-degree arson, a felony punishable by up to 20 years in prison, and threats of violence with reckless disregard, a felony carrying up to five years. He remains in custody on $100,000 bail, with his next court appearance scheduled for August.
