Abdul “Duke” Fakir, the last surviving member of the iconic Motown group The Four Tops, has died at the age of 88. Fakir passed away on Monday at his home in Detroit, surrounded by family and loved ones. The cause of death was heart failure. As a tenor for The Four Tops, Fakir’s voice graced timeless hits such as “Reach Out I’ll Be There,” “I Can’t Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch),” and “Standing in the Shadows of Love.” His death marks the end of an era for Motown, as he was the final original member of the group that played a significant role in shaping the sound of the 1960s and beyond.
