DUI Suspect Seriously Injured in Knife Struggle with Deputy, Who Is Now on Leave

PIERZ, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A DUI suspect suffered a serious knife injury during a struggle with a deputy late Saturday night in Morrison County, Minnesota. The incident occurred around 10:30 PM when a deputy initiated a traffic stop on Highway 25, just south of Pierz. The driver was being investigated for speeding and suspicion of driving under the influence.

Following a series of field sobriety tests, the deputy informed the suspect of his arrest for DUI. A struggle ensued, resulting in the suspect sustaining serious knife injuries. The suspect was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment. The deputy involved has been placed on administrative leave.

The Morrison County Sheriff’s Office has requested the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) to investigate the use of force. There is video footage of the incident, which has been handed over to the BCA. All further inquiries will be directed to the BCA.
