St. Louis County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) — In the early hours of Tuesday, May 6, 2025, a serious single-vehicle crash occurred on southbound Interstate 535 near Garfield Avenue in Duluth. At approximately 2:50 a.m., a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by 66-year-old Richard Allen Rohsfeld of Cottage Grove, MN, failed to navigate a left curve in a work zone leading to the Blatnik Bridge on-ramp. The vehicle struck yellow lane barriers and veered into a ditch.

Emergency responders from the Duluth Police Department, Superior Police Department, Mayo Clinic Ambulance, and Duluth Fire Department arrived promptly at the scene. Rohsfeld sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Saint Luke’s Hospital for treatment. Authorities confirmed that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
