Becker County, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) – A shocking scene unfolded at a McDonald’s in Detroit Lakes on the night of June 29, 2025, when police responded to a report of two drunk men with children.
According to the criminal complaint, officers arrived around 11:04 PM and discovered an intoxicated adult who pointed to the driver — Duane John Weikert, 37, of Perham — waiting in a vehicle nearby. One of the children even identified him as his father.
Weikert was observed to have glossy eyes, slurred speech, and was unsteady on his feet. He admitted to drinking seven beers, failed field sobriety tests, and blew a .17 on a breath test.
He was charged with two gross misdemeanors:

Second-Degree DWI – BAC Over .08
Each charge carries up to 1 year in jail and/or a $3,000 fine. The presence of children and prior offenses may significantly enhance the consequences.
