Minneapolis, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – A Minneapolis man suspected of involvement in a serious assault or possible attempted murder was apprehended on Saturday morning at the Hansel Lake rest area on Interstate 94 in Otter Tail County.
Eliezer Rodriguez, 31, was captured following an extensive air, ground, and K9 search, which prompted a shelter-in-place advisory, as stated in a news release by the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.
The operation began when the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office and the State Patrol were alerted to a suspicious person at the rest area. Investigators discovered that the suspect’s vehicle was connected to serious crimes in Minneapolis. The report came in at 7:17 a.m., and by 2:41 p.m., an area resident spotted the suspect near the rest area.
A collaborative ground team from the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, Grant County Sheriff’s Office, and the Minnesota DNR tracked Rodriguez and apprehended him after a brief foot chase. He surrendered without resistance and was transported to Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls for a medical issue unrelated to his arrest. Rodriguez was subsequently handed over to Minneapolis Park Police custody.
