Ward County (TRF News) – Tragedy struck Thursday morning, June 5th, west of Douglas, North Dakota, in a fatal crash involving a John Deere side-by-side and a Kenworth cement truck.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:39 AM at the intersection of 156th Street SW and 359th Ave SW. Authorities say an 80-year-old man from Douglas was driving a 2022 John Deere side-by-side westbound when he attempted to turn left in front of a passing 2014 Kenworth cement truck. The cement truck collided with the side-by-side, causing it to land in the north ditch. The truck then tipped onto its side, blocking both lanes of traffic.
The side-by-side driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was killed in the crash. The 68-year-old Kenworth driver from Minot was injured and transported to Trinity Health in Minot.
The incident remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
