Dolores Mutch, 100, of Larimore, ND, died Monday, August 19, 2024 at Northwood Deaconess Health Center, Northwood, ND.
Dolores Elaine Severtson Mutch was born May 25, 1924, in New Rockford, ND, to Christian and Martha (Steffen) Severtson. Christian was an engineer for the Great Northern Railway and Martha was a homemaker.
Dolores graduated from New Rockford High School in 1942. She then went on to further her education at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, graduating in 1947 with an English major and a Music minor. Dolores taught high school English in Northwood for two years. On October 23, 1949, she married Duane Mutch of Kempton, ND. In
1958, they built their home in Larimore where Duane owned Mutch Oil Co., a bulk fuel business and gas station. There they raised their three children, Martha, John and Paul.
In addition to being a loving and supportive wife and mother, Dolores was a talented musician with a genuine love of music. She was a woman of great Christian faith and found much joy in serving her Lord through being organist for Our Savior’s Lutheran in Larimore for more than 40 years. She particularly loved playing for weddings and funerals. Dolores also taught piano lessons in her home for many years, sharing her love of music with others. In addition to involvement in Christian organizations, Dolores was active in a number of state and community groups.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, husband Duane, and younger sister Eleanor Joyce Jones (formerly of Fargo). She is survived by her children, Martha of Roseville, MN; John (Michele) of Apple Valley, MN, and their daughters Emily, Anna and Claire; and Paul (Julie) of Larimore, ND, and their children Meredith (Christian) Prevost and daughter Elise, Alexander (Mikayla), Nathan (Ellen) Borgen and sons Charlie and Finn; and Mackenzie (Chris) Neamonitis. She is also survived by her niece, Kimberly Jones of Scottsdale, AZ.
Visitation will be at 1:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 29th, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Larimore. Burial will be at Bellevue Cemetery in Larimore.
Memorials will be given to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and Bellevue Cemetery.
