Dollar Tree Under Fire for Failing to Recall Lead-Tainted Applesauce Pouches, Hundreds of Children Affected

WASHINGTON, D.C. (trfnews.i234.me) – Government officials report that Dollar Tree stores failed to effectively recall lead-tainted applesauce pouches linked to illnesses in more than 500 children. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has sent a warning letter to Dollar Tree and placed the Ecuadorian distributor of WanaBana apple cinnamon pouches under multiple import alerts.

The FDA revealed that the contaminated pouches remained on some Dollar Tree shelves for two months after the recall. The products were found to contain high levels of lead and chromium, posing a significant health risk.

Hundreds of children across 44 states reported elevated blood lead levels after consuming the pouches, which were marketed for toddlers.
