Dianne M. Haugen, age 89, of Grand Forks, North Dakota, died Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, North Dakota, with Pastor Jo Gast officiating. Visitation will be held 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Augustana Lutheran Church in Grand Forks.
Dianne Mae Olson was born August 31, 1936, in Rockford, IL, to Ernfred and Iva (Kniskern) Olson. Dianne graduated from Swedish American Nursing School and worked for over 40 years as a Registered Nurse. Dianne started her nursing career working the nightshift at the Deaconess Hospital and eventually accepted a position at Altru Hospital, and ended her career managing the minor surgery department at the Grand Forks Clinic. On October 12, 1957, Dianne was united in marriage to James “Jim” Haugen. Together they raised their family in Beloit, WI, Rockford, IL, and in 1969, they settled in Grand Forks, ND.
Dianne was a devoted member of Augustana Lutheran Church; she found joy in her faith community and actively participated in committees, attended Bible studies, and coffee social hours with friends. Her compassionate heart extended beyond the church as she also volunteered in the gift shop at Altru Hospital and was involved with TOPS: Take Off Pounds Slowly club. She also enjoyed playing card games, Farkle, Sequence, and Rummikub with her family and friends, and fishing in Lake of the Woods, MN. Family traditions held a special place in Dianne’s heart, especially Thanksgiving, when her family came together for a big meal and afterwards went to cheer for the Fighting Sioux games.
Dianne is survived by her sons, Greg (Tammy) Haugen of Moscow, ID, Kevin (Janet) Haugen of Flourtown, PA, and Doug (Susie) of Acworth, GA; 2 grandchildren, William and Kristin; siblings, Ted Olson of Morristown, NJ, and Claud Olson of Seattle, WA; and brother-in-law, Rick Cutright.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Haugen, parents, Ernie and Iva Olson, and sisters, Patricia “Trish” Cutwright and Carole Pace.
