Devils Lake Pair Charged in Kloten Drug, Threat Case

Nelson County ( trfnews.i234.me ) – Two Devils Lake residents are facing multiple felony charges after a chaotic incident in Kloten, North Dakota, that involved drug possession, threats, and a vehicle stuck on railroad tracks.

According to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a disturbance call around 8:20 p.m. on October 15. When they arrived, officers saw Latasha Thompson and Kyle Baker walking away from a residence. Thompson reportedly told deputies she was there to check on her children.

Witnesses told officers that Thompson had threatened to burn down their house and harm them. One person reported that she said, “She was going to hunt us down and kill us.” Deputies confirmed the threats with multiple witnesses at the scene.

During questioning, Baker admitted he had been drinking and claimed Thompson was driving. He also gave officers a false name. Thompson later admitted to driving but told officers she did not have a valid driver’s license.

Deputies located their vehicle stuck on nearby railroad tracks. It had fictitious plates. A K-9 search of the car revealed methamphetamine, marijuana, black tar heroin, drug paraphernalia, and an open container of alcohol. Both suspects denied owning the narcotics.

Thompson is charged with felony terrorizing and several misdemeanors, including possession of meth, heroin, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and driving under suspension.

Baker faces two felonies — possession of drug paraphernalia and possession with intent to deliver heroin — along with misdemeanor counts of meth possession, hindering law enforcement, and unlawful use of plates.

The Nelson County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident. Both suspects remain in custody pending court appearances.
