The incident began late Monday and stretched into Tuesday morning. At approximately 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, the standoff ended when Hennen apparently shot himself inside his home. He was transported to a hospital for treatment at that time.
According to the criminal complaint, Hennen threatened to shoot himself while law enforcement attempted to negotiate with him. His children were inside the residence during the confrontation, and neighbors were told to either evacuate or shelter in place until the situation was resolved.
On Wednesday, an arrest warrant was issued, and Hennen was formally taken into custody after being served. He is now facing a felony charge of terrorizing, a serious offense under North Dakota law.
Officials have not released new details on Hennen’s current medical condition, but confirmed he is being held at the Ramsey County Jail. The case remains under investigation by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
The charge of terrorizing can carry a lengthy prison sentence and fines if convicted. Authorities stressed the seriousness of the threats made during the standoff, especially with children present inside the home and nearby residents placed at risk.
