North Dakota (trfnews.i234.me) — A powerful storm system ripped through the region, unleashing devastating wind gusts and spawning five reported tornadoes across North and South Dakota.
The storm’s ferocity was underscored near Galesburg, where over 40 train cars were blown off the tracks, some tipped onto their sides for miles in both directions. The National Weather Service clocked wind gusts up to 112 mph, strong enough to topple hundreds of rail cars in parts of Traill County.
While no injuries have been confirmed, the derailments and wind damage have triggered massive cleanup operations. Officials and railroad crews are currently assessing the extent of destruction and environmental risk.
This incident adds to a growing list of severe weather events plaguing the upper Midwest in the 2025 tornado season.
