Becker County (trfnews.i234.me) – A Detroit Lakes woman, Kari Ann Phillips, 43, has been charged with felony drug possession and misdemeanor DWI following a June 5 traffic stop where deputies allegedly discovered fentanyl and signs of impairment.

According to the Becker County Sheriff’s Office, Phillips failed to fully stop at a stop sign on Old Pit Road, prompting deputies to pull her over. Officers noted her glassy eyes, shaking hands, and constricted pupils, leading to field sobriety tests, where multiple signs of impairment were observed.

During the arrest, officers searched a black purse Phillips was wearing and located a pink powdery substance in a bindle. Field testing revealed it was fentanyl, weighing 0.60 grams.

Phillips was transported for a blood test but opted for a urine test at the Becker County Jail. She now faces:

  • Count I: 5th Degree Possession of Fentanyl (Felony)

  • Count II: DWI – Controlled Substance (Misdemeanor)
