Becker County (trfnews.i234.me) — An 18-year-old Detroit Lakes man is facing a felony charge after allegedly furnishing a firearm to a minor, according to Becker County court records.
Jaden White of Detroit Lakes has been charged with felony dangerous weapons – furnishing to minors under 18 following a police investigation that began in early September.
According to the criminal complaint, on September 4, 2025, Detroit Lakes police officers discovered a juvenile in possession of a loaded AR-15 pistol. The firearm had reportedly been passed among several juveniles, prompting a large-scale investigation to determine how it was obtained.
Investigators traced the weapon back to White. Text messages later obtained by law enforcement showed the juvenile arranging for White to deliver the AR-15 pistol to him at the Holiday Inn in Detroit Lakes on or about August 29, 2025. The two discussed the price, and White agreed to bring the weapon.
Shortly after the exchange, the juvenile took a photo with the AR-15, timestamped about nine minutes after the last messages between him and White. Roughly 20 minutes later, White texted the juvenile again, saying, “stack getting too big,” suggesting he had received a substantial payment.
When questioned by police on October 10, White denied giving the gun to the juvenile, claiming the teen must have obtained it “some other way.” However, he was unable to explain the incriminating text messages, investigators said. A witness at a party told officers the juvenile had briefly left and returned with the AR-15 pistol shortly afterward.
White’s first court appearance is scheduled for December 18 before Becker County District Court Judge Michelle W. Lawson. For reference, Minnesota law prohibits the transfer of firearms to anyone under 18, except under specific lawful circumstances (Minnesota Statute §609.66).
