Detroit Lakes Police Report 6-22-2024

  • 1:58 a.m., Domestic incident was reported at a residence along Mashkiki Street, Ponsford, involving an adult male and female. Both stated the other was the aggressor.
  • 11:22  a.m., Check forgery for $4,200 was reported at a business along U.S. Highway 59, Detroit Lakes.
  • 3:51 p.m., Fire was reported in the grass along County Highway 46, Park Rapids. The fire was extinguished without incident.
  • 4:06 p.m., Suspicious activity was reported at a storage unit along State Highway 34, Detroit Lakes, when a lock had been cut. The storage unit renter called later to report tools, household items and hunting equipment had been stolen.
  • 4:37 p.m., Fraud was reported at a residence in Rochert when an adult male provided personal information to a scammer who claimed that he owed money on an unpaid toll.
  • 9:25 p.m., An adult male in Lake Park is under investigation for sexual contact with more than one child.
  • 2:26 p.m., Male, 39, from Stearns County, turned himself in to the Becker County Courthouse on an outstanding warrant.
  • 2:51 p.m.,  Arrest was made of a 12-year-old male from Ogema who was making terroristic threats. He was also in possession of a firearm, which was noted to be a BB gun.
  • 4:35 p.m., Inmate at the Becker County Jail was found in possession of a controlled substance.
  • 8:13 p.m., Two adult males got into a fight in the parking lot of a convenience store in Ogema.
  • 10:20 p.m., Fire at an apartment building along Union Street, Detroit Lakes, was reported. The fire department determined the fire smell originated from a motor on a fan. The fan was unplugged.
  • 10:53 p.m.,  Disturbance was reported at a residence in Lake Park when two adult males, who were related, began to fight.
  • 1:32 p.m., Vandalism was reported at a residence along East Shore Drive, Detroit Lakes, when eggs were thrown at a house. Several eggs hit a window.Several other incidents were reported.
  • 3:46 p.m., Intoxicated adult male was reportedly making a scene in the middle of Main Avenue, Frazee.
  • 3:51 p.m., Property damage was reported when a mailbox was struck along County Highway 6, Lake Park. A 15-year-old female from Fargo was cited.
  • 7:06 p.m., An iPhone reported an accident along McKenzie Road, Waubun. A side-by-side had flipped. No injuries were reported.
  • 8:23 p.m., DWI arrest of a 40-year-old male from St. Paul followed a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Airport Road and U.S. Highway 10, Detroit Lakes.
  • 12:04 a.m., Motor vehicle accident was reported at Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes. An iPhone sent an emergency alert when it fell off of a vehicle. The phone was returned to the owner.
  • 5:03 a.m., Assault of a minor female by an adult female was reported in Ogema.
  • 11:10 a.m., Property damage was reported along Park Lake Boulevard, Detroit Lakes, when a pontoon struck a cabin. The incident report does not state if the pontoon was on a trailer or came from the lake.
  • 12:27 p.m., Male, 32, from Ponsford, reported being shot with a pellet gun while he was riding his bicycle. The suspected shooter was a 21-year-old male from Ponsford. No injuries were reported.
  • 5:43 p.m., Fire was reported when a detached garage was fully engulfed along Skarie Road, Detroit Lakes.
  • 5:59 p.m., Theft of two Trek FX bicycles was reported at a residence along Lori Avenue, Detroit Lakes.
  • 6:54 p.m., Out-of-state visitors were consuming alcohol on the City Beach. The visitors were informed of the city ordinance prohibiting consuming alcohol on the beach. They emptied their alcohol.
  • 6:58 p.m., Trespassing was reported on an empty lot along Laura Avenue, Detroit Lakes, when a person set up a campsite. The person was told the lot is not a camping site and advised to move along.
  • 7:44 p.m., Vandalism was reported at a residence along Front Street, Detroit Lakes, when a vehicle tire was punctured.
  • 7:44 p.m., Domestic assault resulted in a 40-year-old female being arrested at a residence in Rochert. The victim was an adult male.
  • 8:52 a.m., A resident along Central Street, Detroit Lakes, reported their vehicle had been broken into and cash was taken.
  • 8:15 a.m., Hazmat call was made when concerns that a gas line had been struck were reported along First Street, Lake Park. The scene was cleared and reportedly no gas line had been damaged.
  • 8:45 a.m., Johnson boat motor was found in the WE Fest campgrounds south of the Soo Pass Ranch. The motor appeared to have been partially disassembled.
  • 11:22 a.m.,  Vandalism at the Sivertson Lake public access was reported when bullet holes were noticed in the informational aquatic species sign.
  • 12:06 p.m., Motor vehicle crash was reported along County Highway 21, Ogema through an iPhone. However, no crash was located.
  • 1:35 p.m.,  Disturbance was reported at a residence along Loon Drive, Ogema. A 20-year-old female from White Earth was arrested for assaulting a 22-year-old female from Mahnomen.
  • 5:46 p.m., A vehicle’s automated crash detection service alerted the White Earth Police Department that an accident had occurred. The vehicle was located in a swamp along 250th Avenue, Ogema. The driver, a 53-year-old male from Detroit Lakes, declined medical assistance. He informed officers that he had swerved, causing the vehicle to roll into the swamp. A window was broken to provide the male with an escape route.
  • 6:05 p.m., Theft was reported at a storage unit along State Highway 34, Detroit Lakes, where a lock had been cut.
  • 6:30 p.m., Female, 40, from Detroit Lakes, turned herself in to the Becker County Jail on an outstanding warrant.
  • 7:02 p.m., Becker County Sheriff’s Boat and Water Safety Division was called to assist a 66-year-old male from Detroit Lakes who was on Pickerel Lake. The male’s heart assistance device had a low battery. The Sheriff’s Office towed the boat back to shore and assisted the man with loading his boat.
  • 9:56 p.m., Fire was reported at a residence along McHugh Road, Detroit Lakes, when a 41-year-old nephew of the property owner began setting small grass fires in a field on the property. The fires were extinguished without incident.
  • 11:03 p.m., Theft of two chihuahuas and a Yorkie, all about a year old, were reported along Crane Road, Ogema. The animals were noted to have been taken from a tent.
  • 5:45 a.m., Tree fell on a power line near the intersection of South Shore Drive and Muir Lane, Detroit Lakes.There were other, similar incidents related to power outages around the city.
  • 5:57 a.m., Fire was reported along Soo Avenue, Detroit Lakes, when a power line fell and began sparking in trees.
  • 6:26 a.m., Suspicious activity was reported when an adult female was seen sleeping in a van in a business parking lot along U.S. Highway 10, Detroit Lakes. Officers located the female, who stated she had been up early to go fishing, but pulled over to sleep because she was too tired to safely drive. No signs of impairment were noticed by the officer.
  • 6:40 a.m.,  A 41-year-old male from Detroit Lakes was acting oddly at a residence along McHugh Road, Detroit Lakes. The property owner, who was related to the male, called the police. The police arrested the 41-year-old male on an outstanding warrant.
  • 9:27 a.m., Law enforcement uniforms were reportedly taken from a residence along County Highway 18, Ogema. The burglary was called from a private residence when the caller noticed that the garage had been entered and a cabinet door was open. In the cabinet was a large duffle bag containing law enforcement uniforms belonging to the White Earth Police Department.
  • 11:07 a.m.,  Assault was reported at a residence along County Highway 21, Ogema. The assault was noted to have happened in California. Information was taken and the report was forwarded to the appropriate county.
  • 2:23 p.m., Threats were reportedly made to an employee at Becker County Human Services by an adult female.
  • 2:35 p.m., Fire was reported when a power line fell on trees and was sparking along Woodland Lane, Detroit Lakes.
  • 3:20 p.m., Threats were reportedly made to an employee at Becker County Human Services by an adult male.
  • 5:42 p.m., Assault of an adult female by an adult male was reported at a residence along County Highway 35, Ponsford. The female declined medical attention.
  • 6:55 p.m., Smoke was seen coming from under a door at an apartment complex along Loring Avenue, Detroit Lakes. The smoke was coming from an oven that contained burnt chicken.
  • 7:57 p.m., Disturbance was reported along North Street, Detroit Lakes, when an adult male with special needs was exposing himself and throwing things at passing vehicles.
  • 4:29 a.m., Suspicious activity was reported at a business along Frazee Street, Detroit Lakes, when an adult male was seen digging in a garbage bin.
  • 9:10 a.m., a person informed officers that a traffic sign was covered by a tree along Summit Avenue. The police department notified public works regarding the safety concern.
  • 12:30 p.m., Motor vehicle theft was reported at a business along U.S. Highway 10, Detroit Lakes. The vehicle was later located in the parking lot. The person who reported the theft had forgotten where they had parked it.
  •  1:06 p.m., Fraud was reported by a resident on Garnet Boulevard, Detroit Lakes, after the adult female had purchased a $200 gift card for a phone scam.
