Detroit Lakes Police Report 6-12-2024

  • 8:26 a.m., Suspicious activity was reported when a person was seen photographing police vehicles.
  • 10:35 a.m., Dumping of refuse was reported under a bridge along Main Avenue, Frazee.
  • 11:53 a.m., Bear cub was spotted attempting to cross U.S. Highway 10. Caller noted it appeared there was no mother bear near the cub.
  • 3:28 p.m., Complaint was made when a houseboat appeared to be shored along the South Shore of Detroit Lake. The owner of the houseboat was contacted and explained they were in the process of purchasing a new battery, after which their boat would be moved.
  • 5:36 p.m., Fraud was reported at a residence along 145th Street Menahga when a call was received from a person stating they were with the Beltrami County Court and needed to verify a Google account. If verification couldn’t be done, the person was told they would have a warrant out for their arrest. The person did not fall for the scam.
  • 6:26 p.m., Threats were made to burn down another person’s home when paperwork was served regarding an unpaid water bill at a residence along Long Bridge Road, Detroit Lakes.
  • 9:11 p.m., Burglary was reported along Barbara Avenue, Detroit Lakes when a parked food truck had been entered. Nothing appeared to be missing.
  • 9:27 p.m., Hazmat call was made at a residence along Pembina Trail, Detroit Lakes when fog appeared inside of the home. The fog was determined to be caused by an air conditioning unit that was malfunctioning.
  • 2:02 a.m., Four teens between the ages of 15 and 16 were being loud and ringing doorbells along Front Street, Lake Park.
  • 9:54 a.m., Illegal dumping was reported along County Road 110, Callaway when a bag of garbage was found inside a mailbox.
  • 11:24 a.m., Motor vehicle crash involving two SUVs was reported along U.S. Highway 10, Detroit Lakes, resulting in a 70-year-old male from Detroit Lakes being taken to the hospital. The driver of the other vehicle, a 71-year-old male from Detroit Lakes did not need medical attention.
  • 3:24 p.m., Suspicious activity was reported when a vehicle was noted to be parked near the river along Jackson Avenue, Detroit Lakes.
  • 3:36 p.m., Burglary was reported at a residence along Pearl Lake Drive, Detroit Lakes. The reporter stated doors were open and items strewn about. The scene had been cleaned up upon officers arrival. The person was told to contact them if anything was noticed to be missing.
  • 4:01 p.m., ATV complaint was made along 132nd Avenue, Lake Park, when four juveniles were seen riding on private property and tearing up a gravel road. The children were located by officers and informed that the ATVs needed to be registered, and their age required obtaining certifications to drive the ATVs.
  • 5:44 p.m., Male, 21, from Waubun was staying at a residence along 295th Avenue, Waubun when he called the White Earth Police Department and turned himself in on an outstanding warrant.
  • 6:16 p.m., Vandalism was reported at a city park along Lake Street, Lake Park. A picnic table had been damaged beyond repair.
  • 9:41 p.m., Male, 42, from Detroit Lakes turned himself in to the Becker County Jail on an outstanding warrant.
  • 1:53 p.m., Suspicious activity was reported when a vehicle was spotted at the Long Lake Public Access after hours. The person was informed of park hours.
  • 3:05 p.m., Male, 53, from Detroit Lakes was arrested at a residence along Central Street, Detroit Lakes on an outstanding warrant.
  • 4:59 p.m., Boat and water call was made when an unmanned boat beached on a shoreline at a residence along County Road 117, Osage. The boat owner was notified.
  • 6 p.m., Fire was reported along County Highway 32, Detroit Lakes, when a tree fell on a power line. Wild Rice Electric was notified.
  • 6:20 p.m., Power line fell along County Highway 25, Detroit Lakes.
  • 6:44 p.m., Theft was reported when a pink Strider bike was taken from a residence along Union Street, Detroit Lakes.
  • 7:31 p.m., Theft of a tool kit was reported at a business along U.S. Highway 10, Audubon.
  • 11:45 p.m., Disturbance was reported at a residence along Bear Clan Drive, Ogema, when somebody in a white truck threw unidentified objects at a residence. The vehicle description was given to police.
