Detroit Lakes Police Report 6-10-2024

  • 12:41 a.m., Possible shots fired at a residence along Lynx Lane, Ogema, reported. Officers learned a white truck was seen driving past the residence when something appeared to have been thrown out of the vehicle and went through the window. It was not known what broke the window.
  • 12:43 p.m., Pontoon floated ashore along Ravenswood Beach Road, Detroit Lakes. The owner of the boat was located.
  • 2:20 p.m., Inappropriate sexual conduct between an adult male and female teenager was reported in Becker County. The incident is under investigation.
  • 2:11 p.m., Suspicious activity was reported at a storage facility along Jackson Avenue, Detroit Lakes. A person was using an outlet to charge a phone. The individual was advised to stay off of private property.
  • 5:09 p.m., Theft was reported at a residence along Eagle Drive, Ogema, when a boy (age not noted in incident report) walked into an apartment, took a toy gun and left. The person in the residence knew where the boy lived. Police spoke with the child.
  • 6:08 p.m., Suspicious activity was reported when a person was thought to be living in their car and parking for extended periods along Grandview Lane, Lake Park. The vehicle was located and the driver, a 43-year-old male from Perham, was arrested on an outstanding warrant.
  • 7:36 p.m., Theft of a credit card was reported at a residence along Main Avenue, Frazee.
  • 9:02 p.m., Traffic stop along Marten Drive, Ogema, resulted in the arrest of a 27-year-old female from Ogema and a 41-year-old male from Waubun for outstanding warrants.
  • 9:28 p.m., Male, 51, from Duluth, was arrested at a residence along Main Street, Detroit Lakes, for obstructing a peace officer and assaulting a peace officer. The officer was reported to be OK.
  • 1:05 a.m., Property damage was reported when a window was broken at a residence along Lynx Lane, Ogema.
  • 6:19 a.m., Hazmat call was made to a business along Richwood Road, Detroit Lakes. The incident call stated a Minnesota Pollution Control Agency Duty report was made. The report was requested but not obtained by the time this article was published. The duty officer taking the public information request emphasized he did not know the size of the spill in Detroit Lakes, but explained that small spills that do not result in action from the MPCA require contact.
  • 9:59 a.m., Fire was reported when a Toyota Prius caught fire between Ogema and White Earth. Occupants safely exited the vehicle and the fire was extinguished.
  • 1:57 p.m., Disturbance was reported near a business on Main Avenue, Frazee, when an adult female reportedly attempted to run over another adult female.
  • 2:27 p.m., Warrant arrest of a 26-year-old female from Callaway was made at a business along Washington Avenue, Detroit Lakes.
  • 2:31 p.m., Transient merchants were located along Willow Street, Detroit Lakes, and informed of city ordinances regarding such businesses in city limits.
  • 3:05 p.m., Boater on Middle Cormorant Lake was warned for not having a life jacket on their craft by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division.
  • 3:24 p.m., Boater on Middle Cormorant Lake was warned for not having a throwable life preserver on their boat by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division.
  • 3:34 p.m., Boater on Middle Cormorant Lake was warned for not having an operable horn on their boat by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division.
  • 3:36 p.m., Motor vehicle crash was reported along West Lake Drive, Detroit Lakes, when a dog ran in front of a vehicle and was struck. The owner of the pet took the pet to the veterinarian.
  • 5:04 p.m., Suspicious activity was reported at a residence along County Highway 11, Audubon, when a neighbor heard a lot of barking followed by screaming. The concerned caller noted the residence was then visited and all doors were open to the house and all was quiet.
  • 6:04 p.m., Juvenile was stopped along Third Street, Frazee, when a child failed to stop at a stop sign. Officer saw the incident and discussed the importance of following rules of the road, even on bicycles, with the child.
  • 6:43 p.m., Property damage was reported at a residence along Juniper Drive, Detroit Lakes, when an ATV tore up landscaping.
  • 6:32 p.m., Disturbance was reported at a business along Main Avenue, Callaway. A man became agitated and threw water on the floor.
  • 12:09 a.m., Assault was reported at a residence along U.S. Highway 10, Frazee, by a 65-year-old male from Frazee. The male was bleeding from his arm and broken glass was noted around the residence. The male stated 40 people associated with the mafia had assaulted him.
  • 9:50 a.m., Shots being fired reported in the Brandy Lake area.
  • 12:16 p.m., Boater on Big Cormorant Lake was warned for riding on the gunwale by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division.
  • 12:27 p.m., Boater on Big Cormorant Lake was warned by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division for failing to display the craft’s current registration.
  • 3:02 p.m., Fire was reported along Front Street, Detroit Lakes. Officers located a person burning leaves.
  • 3:06 p.m., Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division assisted in towing an inoperable boat to shore.
  • 4:07 p.m.,  Boat passenger on Detroit Lake was warned for riding on the gunwale by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division.
  • 4:41 p.m., Boat passenger on Detroit Lake was warned for riding on the gunwale by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division. A child under 10 years of age was without a lifejacket, and the boat operator was informed that it was illegal.
  • 5:04 p.m., Boater was warned on Detroit Lake for three violations by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division. The violations included not having a boat registered, not having a throwable life preserver on board and not having a fire extinguisher on board.
  • 7:41 p.m., Boater on Detroit Lake was warned by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division for not having a registered boat.
  • 8:05 p.m., Boater on Detroit Lake was warned by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division for not having a registered boat, not having a throwable life preserve on the boat and not having a fire extinguisher on the craft.
  • 8:30 p.m., Boater on Detroit Lake was warned by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division for not having a registered boat and not having a throwable life preserve on the boat.
  • 8:50 p.m., Boater on Detroit Lake was warned by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division for not having a throwable life preserve on the boat.
  • 9:22 a.m., Theft was reported along Washington Avenue, Detroit Lakes, when a purse was taken from a vehicle.
  • 11:20 p.m., Vandalism was reported at a business along West Lake Drive, Detroit Lakes, when eggs were thrown at a building by people in a Jeep.
  • 3:28 a.m., Fire was reported at a residence along Washington Avenue, Detroit Lakes, when fire alarms were activated due to smoke. A resident had put a pizza in the oven and then fell asleep.
  • 12:24 p.m., Domestic incident was reported in rural Detroit Lakes when an adult male and an adult female began to argue. The female took a 10-month-old baby and left the house. She was walking to the garage when the male took a hard-covered book and threw it. The book hit the child. The child appeared to be OK.
  • 12:36 p.m., Boater on Detroit Lake was warned by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division for not having an accessible throwable life preserver on the boat.
  • 12:55 p.m., Boater on Two Inlet Lake was warned by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division for not having an accessible throwable life preserver on the boat.
  • 1:43 p.m., Boater on Two Inlet Lake was warned by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division for not having an operable horn on the craft.
  • 3:21 p.m., Boater on Straight Lake was warned by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division for not having lifejackets on the craft.
  • 3:30 p.m., Boater on Straight Lake was warned by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division for not having lifejackets on the craft.
  • 3:41 p.m., Boater on Straight Lake was warned by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division for not having a throwable life preserve on the craft, a fire extinguisher and an inoperable horn.
  • 4:18 p.m., Boater on Straight Lake was warned by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division for having an inoperable horn on the craft and a child on the boat without a lifejacket on.
  • 4:50 p.m., Boater on Straight Lake was warned by the Becker County Boat and Water Safety Division for not having an accessible throwable life preserver.
  • 5:32 p.m., Vehicle was seen swerving along Lake Street, Frazee. The vehicle was located and a 24-year-old female from Missouri was arrested for DWI.
  • 7:06 p.m., Traffic stop along U.S. Highway 59, Ogema, resulted in the arrest of a 33-year-old male from Mahnomen.
  • 8:25 p.m., Motor vehicle crash was reported along U.S. Highway 10, Frazee. The following information was pulled from the Minnesota State Patrol incident report: A one-vehicle rollover occurred near milepost 55. The vehicle, a Chevrolet pickup, driven by a 16-year-old male from Detroit Lakes, was eastbound on Highway 10. The pickup left the road, drove into the median and then rolled. The driver and the three passengers were wearing seatbelts, and not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
  • 8:48 p.m., Suspicious activity was reported at a residence along Sunset Lane, Detroit Lakes, when several gunshots were heard.
  • 9:01 p.m., Juvenile was seen on the roof of a business along Main Avenue, Frazee. The person was located and noted to be a 15-year-old male. The child was taken home. A conversation about appropriate behavior was had with the child, in front of his mother.
  • 9:44 p.m., Vehicle was reported in a swamp along County Highway 35. The vehicle was an SUV and unoccupied.
  • 11:21 p.m., Suspicious activity was reported along North Shore Drive, Detroit Lakes when a bicycle and court-related papers were found on a driveway. The person who owned the bike and papers claimed them later that day.
