Detroit Lakes Police Report 6-1-2024

  • 9:27 a.m., Medical call to a residence along County Highway 39, Osage, required air transport. An adult male (no age provided) was possibly having a stroke and had become unresponsive but was breathing. The male was airlifted to Fargo, North Dakota.
  • 11:16 a.m., Theft of fishing gear was reported at a residence along Deer Point Road, Audubon. Two males were seen approaching a docked boat and removing items from the boat. The incident report stated the suspected thieves were located and noted to be two teenage males from Moorhead. The stolen property was returned to the owner. The Becker County Sheriff’s Office posted about other items being recovered and asked residents on Big Cormorant Lake to check their boats for missing items. If items are missing, contact the Becker County Sheriff’s Office at 218-847-2661.
  • 11:29 a.m., Theft of lights and other items at a cemetery in Frazee was reported.
  • 3:33 p.m., Theft of fishing rods from a docked boat was reported at a residence along Deer Point Road, Audubon.
  • 9:43 p.m., Traffic complaint was made when a vehicle was seen driving in circles at high rates of speed at a public access along County Highway 9 in Lake Park. The vehicle owner was identified and contacted. The male stated he would be removing insurance from the vehicle, parking it and no longer allowing his son to drive it.
  • 10:58 a.m., Suspicious activity was reported by a business along Frazee Street, Detroit Lakes, when an elderly male explained he was purchasing gift cards to send to a female friend that he met online. The incident report stated the female had told the male that she needed money to get out of the hospital. The male was informed the request from the online friend was likely a scam, and opted not to go through with the purchase.
  • 12:44 p.m., Theft of gas was reported at a business along U.S. Highway 10, Lake Park, when a vehicle was filled with gas and driven away without payment. The vehicle owner was contacted and stated they thought their payment was processed and would return to pay for the gas.
  • 1 p.m., Vandalism to doors on a building along Lake Street, Detroit Lakes, was reported. The damage had left the building unsecured.
  • 2:44 p.m., Theft of a bicycle was reported at a residence in Frazee along Elm Avenue. The bicycle was later recovered in downtown Frazee.
  • 5:49 p.m., Dumping was reported along County Road 147, Detroit Lakes, of four dead evergreen trees with a trunk greater than 6 inches and having wire around them. The vehicle at the scene was identified and the owner was contacted.
  • 8:02 p.m., Fire was reported along Roosevelt Avenue, Detroit Lakes. Wood burning in a backyard fire pit was located, and there was no cause for concern.
  • 11:15 p.m., Domestic was reported at a residence along County Highway 25, Detroit Lakes. A male, 32, of Detroit Lakes, was arrested for domestic assault and damage to property.
  • 6:56 a.m., Male, 20, from Redding, California, turned himself in to the Becker County Jail on an outstanding warrant.
  • 7:44 a.m., Suspicious activity was reported along Brandy Lake Boulevard when a person appeared to be squatting on a property. A male, 42, from Detroit Lakes, was located. The male stated that he was homeless. He was told he had to move on.
  • 8:19 a.m., Property damage was reported at a residence along County Highway 21, Ogema, when vehicle tires were slashed. The vehicle owner stated he fixed the tires and waited in the vehicle and caught a suspicious male approaching the vehicle with a knife. The incident report stated the man confronted the male, who ran off.
  • 8:49 a.m., Suspicious activity was reported at storage units along Jackson Avenue, Detroit Lakes, when people were seen walking in and out of a wooded area near the units.
  • 11:07 a.m., Fraud was reported at a residence along Heavenly Acres Drive, Frazee, when several unauthorized transactions from a bank account were made. The incident report noted $621 was being disputed.
  • 4:19 p.m., Shot fired was reported at a residence along County Highway 21, Ogema. A male teenager was bleeding from the head after being shot with a BB pellet. The incident report stated the suspects were teenage males.
  • 4:50 p.m., Teenagers reportedly threatened a person who made a report that the teenagers had fired a BB gun and struck a child with a pellet.
  • 9:43 p.m., Threats were made at a residence along Bear Clan Drive, Ogema when teenagers threatened to break windows.
  • 11:21 p.m., Shots fired were reported along 353rd Circle, Ogema, when a person driving a vehicle stated they were being chased by another vehicle and he had heard three gunshots.
