Detroit Lakes Man Sentenced to 12 Years for Child Sexual Abuse and Child Pornography

Becker County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Nicholas Christopher Honer, 48, of Detroit Lakes, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted of felony first-degree criminal sexual conduct and possession of child pornography. As part of a plea agreement, three additional charges of criminal sexual conduct and a second possession charge were dropped.

The case began on February 2nd when a girl under the age of 12 reported that Honer had been sexually abusing her for several years. Following this report, Honer voluntarily contacted the Detroit Lakes Police Department and admitted to the abuse during a recorded phone call and a subsequent in-person interview.

On June 12th, District Judge Michelle Lawson handed down a 144-month prison sentence, with credit for 132 days already served. Honer was also fined $135 and is required to register as a predatory offender. Following his release, he will be under conditional supervision for 10 years.
