Becker County, MN (trfnews.i234.me) – Pierre De Wilson, 37, of Detroit Lakes, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony possession of a short-barrel shotgun. The charge originated from an October 8, 2021, incident where Wilson was a back-seat passenger in a stolen 2007 Ford Edge. A White Earth police officer discovered a loaded sawed-off Mossberg 20 gauge shotgun under the driver’s side rear seat. Evidence, including video and fingerprints, linked Wilson to the weapon.
On April 24, Wilson received a 15-month prison sentence, stayed for five years, for the felony short-barrel shotgun charge. He was ordered to serve 114 days in jail, with credit for time served, and fined $500 plus $150 in court fees. A related charge of failing to appear in court was dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
Wilson had failed to appear for a settlement conference on October 18, 2023, leading to a warrant for his arrest. He was later found in Montana, extradited, and transported to Hubbard County to face a felony DWI charge.
Additionally, Wilson was sentenced for a fifth-degree controlled substance crime. He was arrested on December 29, 2022, after a deputy noticed erratic driving and found methamphetamine in his wallet. He received 114 days in jail, credit for time served, and fines totaling $575. Wilson must also complete a comprehensive assessment, follow all recommendations, and is on supervised probation for five years.
