Callaway, MN – Joseph Lee Stiyer of Detroit Lakes is facing a felony charge of assault with a dangerous weapon following a Sunday incident in rural Callaway, Becker County.
Incident Details
According to court documents, Becker County deputies responded to a report of an assault at a residence. Several witnesses were present when the incident occurred.
🔹 Stiyer was reportedly in a civil dispute with a female resident regarding ownership of the home.
🔹 During the dispute, he allegedly walked in and struck a man in the head with what was initially described as a silver bat before leaving the scene.
🔹 Authorities later determined the weapon was actually a silver jack handle, which was found inside Stiyer’s truck.
Felony Charge Filed
Stiyer is now formally charged with:
