BECKER COUNTY (trfnews.i234.me) – A Detroit Lakes man, Justin Paul Bergeron, 43, is facing felony theft charges after investigators used DNA evidence to connect him to a July 2024 theft scene.
According to court records, a Becker County deputy responded to Old Pit Road on July 15 after a man reported the theft of about 300 feet of industrial power cords, valued at $1,000. At the scene, deputies found bike cart tracks, drag marks, a black-handled knife, and a camouflage butane torch. DNA swabs were collected and later matched to Bergeron through the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
A follow-up search warrant confirmed the match with Bergeron’s cheek swabs. He now faces felony charges, with his first court appearance set for July 31 before Judge Gretchen Thilmony in Becker County District Court.
