Becker County, Minnesota (trfnews.i234.me) – A late-night traffic stop turned into a foot chase and drug bust on June 19, when Jareth James Krogen, 38, of Detroit Lakes, attempted to flee from a Becker County deputy after being stopped on U.S. Highway 59.
The deputy noticed the vehicle lacked proper plate illumination and witnessed a turn without signaling. As the officer approached, Krogen exited the vehicle and ran, but was quickly detained after warnings from a K-9 unit.
Once arrested, Krogen admitted to having meth in the vehicle, telling the deputy, “I’m not even going to lie to you, dude…” Authorities found 1.54 grams of methamphetamine, along with smoking devices.
At the Becker County Jail, Krogen admitted to smoking marijuana and meth hours earlier. He failed sobriety tests, and a blood sample was taken after a search warrant was obtained. The meth tested positive.
Krogen was charged with felony DWI and felony fifth-degree drug possession. Bail was set at $120,000 without conditions. His next court appearance is set for July 21 before Judge Michelle Lawson.
