Tufte, Della Corrine “Nelson”, of Eden Prairie was born March 26, 1929 and died peacefully at 94 on March 14, 2024, after a short battle with lung cancer. Born on a farm southeast of Hatton, ND to parents Henry Nelson & Pearl Tolan Nelson. Attended grades 1-8 at Garfield #3. Graduated from High School in 1946. Attended Mayville State Teacher’s College and taught in rural schools in the Buxton and Hatton area for 3 1/2 years. Became a wife of Jerry and a stay-at-home mother of 3. They both were baptized, confirmed, and married at St. John Lutheran Church in Hatton. She and Jerry farmed and raised their children southeast of Northwood. She worked as a Nurse’s Aide for 11+ years then worked for the Northwood Clinic until her retirement at age 69. She and Jerry traveled most of the U.S. plus some of Canada and Mexico. They wintered in Mesa, AZ. Della had many interests – taught Sunday School, Church Council, Ladies’ Aid, gardened, canned, loved to sew clothes, played Bridge, drove grain and potato trucks. December 2018, she and Jerry moved to Eden Prairie, MN to be close to their daughter. Jerry passed away in May 2022. Della is survived by her children Duane, Nancy & Steven, grandchildren Thomas, Brent, Karis, Jenna, Brandon, Jamie, Michela and several great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on June 20 at 10:00 AM at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 13600 Technology Dr, Eden Prairie, MN, with visitation starting at 9:00 AM. There will be a second memorial service in Hatton, ND at St. John Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 22 at 11:00 AM with interment at 1:15 PM.
